OUR STORY

Wrong Gear makes handmade shemagh masks and hoods for people who do not stay in one lane.

 

What started as a functional snowboarding mask became a small line of handmade gear worn for cold weather, outdoor sports, airsoft, festivals, desert dust, streetwear, and everyday adventures. Our pieces are built to move, breathe, stay in place, and look like something you actually want to wear.

 

Brand Story
Wrong Gear was created by designer and snowboarder Ginger Chen, who wanted a better face mask for riding: something warm but breathable, secure but comfortable, functional but not boring.

 

The original Warrior Mask was designed to contour over the face without sagging or shifting, with a breathable nose panel and adjustable back closure that works under a helmet, beanie, or hat. Over time, the design found a life far beyond the slopes. Riders wore it. Bikers wore it. Airsoft players wore it. Festival people found it. Desert people understood it immediately.

 

That spirit still defines Wrong Gear today. We make practical shemagh gear for snow, dust, wind, movement, and style. Every mask and hood is hand-cut and sewn in Los Angeles, and every color run has its own personality.

 

Wrong Gear is not mass-market outdoor gear. It is handmade, functional, expressive, and a little offbeat — exactly how we like it.
 

What We Make

 

Warrior Mask
The original double-layer shemagh face mask, designed for colder weather, snow, wind, dust, biking, airsoft, and street-style coverage.

 

Warrior Lite Mask
A lighter single-layer version with ear loops and a built-in pocket for a surgical mask or filter. Great for dust, festivals, layering, and everyday use.

 

Desert Hood
A lightweight cotton shemagh hood made for festivals, desert dust, sun coverage, streetwear styling, and outdoor layering.
Handmade in Los Angeles

 

Each Wrong Gear piece is hand-cut and sewn in Los Angeles, California. Because we work with shemagh fabrics, color runs, and handmade construction, small variations are normal. Your mask or hood may not be exactly identical to the next one — and that is part of what makes it yours.
